Volunteer Info.

Do you want to volunteer for the 5th Deaf Arts Festival?  The festival will be held on Saturday September 17, 2011 from 10 am to 8 pm in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Location:
Holley Family Village / DeSales Center
1142 Ventura Drive
Brooklyn, MI 49230.

Volunteers can help out for a few hours or for the entire day of the festival.  There are several duties and they will be rotated (depending on how many hours you are working at the festival).

1) Booth:  Boothers need a break too – bathroom breaks, lunch break, or even a rest break.  Volunteers can sit in their booth area making sure their fine arts and/or crafts are safe.  No monetary transactions will be allowed between the volunteer and the buyers.  Please inform the buyers what time the artist and/or crafter will  return from their break.

2) Art Gallery: Oversee the security of the Fine Artists’ and Sculptures’ work.

3) Children’s Art Gallery:  Oversee the security of the Children’s Art Gallery work.

4) Theater:  Oversee and assist people coming and going into the theater room or platform.  The performances will be in the Village Commons and Outdoor Tents.

5) Ground: Oversee the grounds and make sure the grounds  remain beautiful; prevent littering, remove litter on the ground, etc.  Also, assist those who need directions to the Booth Area, Art Galleries, Theatres, Port-a-johns, etc.

6) Front Door Guard:  Patrons may not have access to some of the entrances. These restricted entries are limited to DAF’s Executive Committee, Board, and Honorary Committee.  A  list of names will be provided.

Students:  If you need Deaf or ASL event log hours for your sign language class, this is a great opportunity to meet a variety of people; Deaf and hearing,  signers and non-signers, and new and familiar faces.
